Timeless Toys Kicks Off Back-to-School Season with Educator Savings, Family Fun, and Hands-On Learning

Special savings for educators, new learning resources for parents, young inventor challenge, family events highlight the season

CHICAGO (August 11, 2025) – Timeless Toys, the independent toy store in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood, is making the back-to-school season a time to learn, play, and celebrate—with special savings for educators, new resources for parents, and family-friendly events.

Educator Appreciation Day – August 17

Timeless Toys will host its Educator Appreciation Day to thank teachers, librarians, and school staff for their service. Educators who present a valid school ID will receive 20% off all purchases in-store during business hours (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.). In addition to discounts, the store is spotlighting its Top Back-to-School Toys, designed to inspire learning across multiple subjects:

“Our team knows how much time, heart, and personal resources educators put into their classrooms,” said Scott Friedland, owner of Timeless Toys. “This is our way of saying thank you and making it just a little easier to bring creativity and fun into the school year.”

New Blog Resource

The celebration is part of a larger push by Timeless Toys to connect play with learning. The store’s latest blog post, Creative Play: Fostering Expression, Language & Emotional Growth, explores how art, imaginative toys, and hands-on activities help children build skills beyond the classroom. The post is available at TimelessToys.com.

Silent Disco Rentals & Family Event – September 20

Adding to the fun, Timeless Toys is expanding its event offerings with Silent Disco rentals for private parties, school events, and community gatherings. The store is also inviting families to join its first Family-Friendly Silent Disco on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 4–6 p.m. at the American Legion Tattler Post. The $10 admission includes pizza, and each guest will receive wireless headphones with access to three music channels with family-friendly tunes. Attendance is limited to 50 participants.

Friedland said these events reflect the store’s mission to be more than just a place to buy toys. “We’re building experiences—whether it’s helping educators prepare for the school year, giving parents insight into child development, or hosting an event where families can laugh, dance, and make memories together.”

Young Inventor Challenge – September 28
Timeless Toys will host its first Young Inventor Challenge, a free, science-fair-style competition for local kids ages 6–18 from 11 AM–12:30 PM at the American Legion Tattler Post. Up to 20 participants will present original toy or game prototypes to a panel of local toy industry professionals, with every entrant receiving a Timeless Toys gift card and the top three winning special prizes. One standout invention may even advance to the International Championship hosted by People of Play in November. Spots are limited. Sign up here.

Friedland said these events reflect the store’s mission to be more than just a place to buy toys. “We’re building experiences—whether it’s helping educators prepare for the school year, giving parents insight into child development, hosting an event where families can laugh, dance, and make memories together, or inspiring young inventors.”
